LEOMINSTER, MA— Leominster, MA – Aging Services of North Central Massachusetts (ASNCM).  The entire staff of ASNCM participated in a discussion of the importance of elder abuse awareness in recognition of World Elder abuse Awareness Day on June 15th.  Staff chose to wear varying shades of purple to commemorate the importance of awareness.  Every single day the agency receives reports of caregiver neglect, self-neglect, fraud, and exploitation.

“We are so very grateful to everyone in our community who looks out for older adults.  Here at ASNCM we have a team of professional individuals who investigate all aspects of elder abuse on a daily basis.  Almost 60% of the investigations we substantiate are self-neglect.  We work with our community partners to empower older adults to live better lives of safety, dignity, and respect.  There are no magic wands or quick, easy solutions but we can make a positive difference together,” stated Lori A. Richardson, ASNCM’s Chief Executive Officer.
