I’ve lived in congregate housing for almost 14 years. Living in the congregate has greatly improved my quality of life since meeting many wonderful people who have lived there over the years. I’ve really enjoyed being in close proximity to the Senior Center and I’ve participated in many special events and trips over the years. I even enjoy being within walking distance of area stores, restaurants, and a church.
The residents who currently live in the congregate are my best friends. Congregate is more than a place to live, it’s my home.

OVERVIEW
Congregate Housing is a unique shared living option for the aging community of North Central Massachusetts. Residents have a private room which they furnish themselves. Congregate residents also have access to common areas, including the kitchen, living room, and dining room. This design provides residents with both privacy and the opportunity for community. Some of our residents have been in our congregate programs for over 20 years and love their home!
There are three sites available for Congregate Housing in North Central Massachusetts: Ayer, Gardner, and Winchendon.

In Congregate you receive support based upon your needs!
Some of the options available are:
- Light Housekeeping
- Personal Care
- Laundry
- Medical Transportation
- Food Shopping
- Meal Coordination
ELIGIBILITY
The individual requiring care must:
- Be 60+ or non-elderly and disabled (with a documented disability)
- Meet the financial eligibility guidelines for the housing and pass any screening criteria (e.g., CORI, housing history, etc.)
- Be able to participate in a shared living environment
- Be capable of independent living and not require constant supervision or 24-hour care to carry out activities of daily living
